Best Wooden Pull-Up Bars? I Reviewed Gorletic—Here’s My Verdict!

1. Why Gorletic Wooden Pull-Up Bars?

If you’re in the market for wooden Calisthenics Equipment, Gorletic is the top pick. Gorletic is a Spanish company with over 30 years of furniture-making and woodworking experience. They have applied this knowledge to create wooden Calisthenics equipment for the past few years. Their craftsmanship in this department sets them apart, and since they come in from a furniture-making angle, they aren’t afraid of introducing innovative designs.

Innovation is always a hit or miss, but we at Calisthenics Worldwide always welcome new ideas and attempts to make Calisthenics more effective, efficient, and affordable. These Gorletic Wooden Pull-Up Bars are just such an attempt at innovating.

2. Gorletic Mountain Pull-Up Bar

The Gorletic Mountain wooden pull-up bar attached above a door header.

The Gorletic Mountain Pull-Up Bar has an interestingly shaped bar that looks like the peak of a mountain range. It offers several exercise options, like slanted handles for wide Pull-Ups and slanted grips for narrow Pull-Ups and Chin-Ups. There are also neutral grip options just behind the top bar. I guess the idea of this bar is to combine ergonomics with a minimalist design.

Unfortunately, I don’t think the execution of the idea went that well in practice. The slanted, wide handles are good. However, the grips for narrow Pull-Ups and Chin-Ups slope inward. Doing narrow Pull-Ups on these slanted grips doesn’t feel natural or comfortable. The neutral grip options are smooth metal instead of wood, and the handles are awkwardly thicker where you’d typically place your hands for normal Pull-Ups.

If they had made the middle of the bar straight and placed the wall fixture struts differently, this would have been a great wooden Pull-Up Bar. The idea is there, but I can’t recommend this wooden Pull-Up Bar in its present shape.

3. Paralelas Dual V

The Gorletic Paralelas Dual attached above a door header.

The Paralelas Dual V is another innovative solution by Gorletic, aiming to achieve maximum versatility from a single product. The Paralelas are mounted to a permanently attached fixture point but can be taken on or off this bar for their dual use as both Pull-Up Bars and Parallettes.

Mount them below a door for use as Pull-Up Bars so you can do your levers. You get several exercise options, including narrow, standard, and wide-grip Pull-Ups and Chin-Ups. The surface of these bars is perfect. They are a girthy 40mm thick, but I like a thicker bar in my hands either way (it feels nostalgic, somehow).

I’m less of a fan of the neutral-grip cut-out handles. These are squarish and don’t feel as comfortable as the round bars. I could do all my exercises without any problems, though. You can remove one of the Paralelas for a narrower neutral grip or just use one for narrow Pull-Ups.

As Parallettes, these are high. You could place them on their sides, but the lack of anti-slip feet means they aren’t designed for it. Standing upright, they are stable enough for all our Parallettes exercises, though, and I’d say they are decent enough.

The Paralelas Dual V’s modular approach and dual-use application make it an interesting option. I can recommend it for your home gym, but spoilers ahead: The Titan Doorway Pull-Up Bar will have something to say for itself.

4. Titan Doorway Pull-Up Bar

The Gorletic Doorway Wooden Pull-Up Bar attached above a door header.

The Gorletic Titan Doorway Pull-Up Bar looks like the Mountain Pull-Up Bar but has extra options. Some design decisions in the Titan Doorway Pull-Up Bar fix the problems with the Mountain bar, though. These solutions make the Titan Doorway Pull-Up Bar the ideal candidate for a door pull-up bar

You get a top bar design similar to the Mountain Pull-Up Bar but without the weird slanted slopes in the middle. The neutral and diagonal options behind the top bar increase the exercise options. You can do your wide pull-ups on the handles, and standard pull-ups and chin-ups are done comfortably in the middle, narrower section. The neutral and diagonal grips also feel good, and there are also the neutral grip cutouts.

The Titan Doorway Pull-Up Bar comes with cutouts for practicing climbing. The two top slots are easier and help build grip strength. The shallower ridge poses a good challenge.

The Titan Doorway Pull-Up Bar fixes the problems of the Mountain Pull-Up Bar while delivering that familiar and superb craftsmanship from Gorletic. You can do all your Calisthenics exercises on this bar, including Pull-Ups and Chin-Ups, as well as all your levers and leg raises.

5. Titan V Pull-Up Bar

The Gorletic Titan V Pull-Up Bar attached to a wall.

The Titan V Pull-Up Bar scales up the Titan Doorway Pull-Up Bar concept and offers more grip options. Like the Paralelas Dual V, you can remove the Titan V Pull-Up Bar from its fixture bar. It has more wall offset than the Titan Doorway Pull-Up Bar but is still best mounted over a door to give your legs the room needed for lever exercises.

You get a few more seeming options with the Titan V Pull-Up Bar. The same top bar is duplicated one after the other, with a set of neutral and diagonal grips dividing them. However, the two top bars are identical, so you get no additional options from the second bar unless you have four arms. There is a further round bar that you can use to isolate your toe touches and leg raises, but you can do the same with the neutral grips on either the Titan V Pull-Up Bar or the Titan Doorway Pull-Up Bar.

I don’t think there is much gain to choosing the Titan V Pull-Up Bar over the cheaper Titan Doorway Pull-Up Bar.

7. Conclusions About Gorletic Wooden Pull-Up Bars

Gorletic makes excellent wooden Calisthenics equipment, and I’m impressed by their willingness to innovate. They come up with novel designs while retaining exceptional quality and woodworking skills. Of course, innovation rarely works, and most ideas are duds. That’s the nature of evolution. But when Gorletic gets it right, they get it perfect.

The Mountain Pull-Up Bar just misses the mark with less-than-ideal ergonomy and is relatively expensive for what you get. The Paralelas Dual V is an innovative combination of a Pull-Up Bar and Parallettes. As a Pull-Up Bar, this solution is good, and as Parallettes, they are decent. If you like this dual-use solution and want a wooden pull-up bar, this is certainly an option to consider.

The real winner for us is the Gorletic Titan Doorway Pull-Up Bar. It’s a high-quality wooden Pull-Up Bar with all the options you need. The grips are also very nice, and you can do all your Calisthenics exercises on them. Its larger brother offers no added versatility; instead, it takes some of it away by not having the climbing cutouts.
