First Look at the Strength Shop Dip Belt
Competition is what Streetlifting is about, but most of us will never be practising Weighted Calisthenics competitively. Aside from the standard set of competition exercises (strict Pull-Ups, Dips, Muscle-Ups and Squats), you can do many other exercises with your Dip Belt that are important for your progression. You can do Chin-Ups, as well as variations of Pull-Ups, alongside those strict sets where the belt and the attached weights increase your potential for gains.
Looking at the Strength Shop Dip Belt, we see a relatively compact Dip Belt. It feels a bit more floppy than most other belts we’ve seen. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, but we’ll consider comfort during testing.
There is a Strength Shop logo printed on a patch in the middle. This patch is sewn on. Velcro strips in the form of chevrons go around the belt, which allow you to attach your own patches. The inner side of the belt has fairly thin padding, which explains the belt’s floppiness.
The rings attached to the loops at either end are quite small and come with 3 carabiners. The small rings make me wonder how easy the belt is to use, but the carabiners look solid.
The Strength Shop Dip Belt comes with a special daisy chain for hanging your weights. The first thing we noticed was the label indicating a maximum weight of 500kg. That’s an insane amount of weight.
The second thing that caught our attention is that the loops are numbered 1 to 10 on each half of the chain. The ends start at 1 and go up to 10, where the loops meet near the middle. The middle part has a separate, unnumbered loop intended to hold your weights.
You can get the Strength Shop Dip Belt in 3 different sizes (S, M and L). We got a size L for our review. This belt is 110cm long and 10cm wide. The daisy chain is 175cm long, but keep in mind that it is two-sided, so you can halve that to reach the maximum length beneath your waist, where the weights would hang.
Exercising with the Strength Shop Dip Belt
While exercising, the Strength Shop Dip Belt forms nicely around your waist and hips. The floppiness, or rather, flexibility, is an advantage here as the belt does a good job distributing the weight over a large area. The padding at the back also provides additional comfort. The rings in front don’t have padding underneath, but we didn’t find them digging into our thighs. So, comfort-wise, the Strength Shop Dip Belt is off to a good start.
The rings are indeed tiny, though. You really have to aim to hook the carabiner through them, and if you’re already pumped from exercising, it can feel a bit like threading a needle. You want it to be quick and easy, especially if you’re handling a lot of weight. Eventually, we got the hang of it, and it became much less of a problem.
I think the smaller rings are a design choice to keep the belt smaller, and potentially also to accommodate competition rules. With bigger rings, it will likely become less comfortable to wear and might require additional padding to shield your thighs from the rings. So, all in all, the smaller rings are a good trade-off.
The daisy chain with numbering on both halves is a nice afterthought. But ordinary daisy chains work just as well. You just remember the numbers for your different exercises, either way. Whether you have two parts of the chain sticking out or just one doesn’t make a whole lot of difference. It’s not a negative trait, as the daisy chain for this belt works perfectly as well, but it’s not a deciding factor to buy this belt over another, in our opinion.
Exercising with the Strength Shop Dip Belt is comfortable, and its design elements make it suitable for competitions as well as daily use. The quality and strength are also there, with a 500kg maximum weight. The only trade-off to all of this is the smaller rings for your carabiners.

After thorough testing of the Strength Shop Dip Belt, we’re left with a good-quality and comfortable belt. Anyone can use this belt for a variety of exercises. The design choices that went into the belt make it a good fit for both competitive athletes and us, enthusiastic amateurs. The only trade-off to achieve this is the smaller rings for hooking your carabiners to. However, you’ll get used to this after a few sessions, and it should be fine.
The daisy chain’s unique design is a neutral addition to this package. It works, it works well and can handle a lot of weight. But the design isn’t innovative enough to be an advantage over other daisy chains. It is good quality, though, and it works.
