The best additional piece of equipment besides the calisthenics essentials (pull-up and dip bars etc.) are resistance bands. There are literally hundreds of different ways to use it. Resistance bands are, in my opinion, a must-have in your equipment collection.
In this post, I am going to review Rubberbanditz’s resistance bands. A little less than two years ago, I bought my first resistance band at Rubberbanditz. And to this day, I still use it in most of my workouts. Let’s dive in!
Two Reasons to Use Resistance Bands
Like I said before, resistance bands have a lot of different ways on how you can use them. The first way and the way I use them the most is as warm-up equipment.
Before I start my workout, I do a couple of warming-up exercises. A couple of minutes using a resistance band can be great to let your blood flow and make your muscles ready. Your warm-up is one of the most crucial parts of your training if done correctly. It will prevent you from injuries. This video will show you some excellent warming-up exercises with the resistance band.
2. Change the difficulty of an exercise
The primary reason you will buy a resistance band is probably to learn a new skill. Many people who struggle with pull-ups or muscle-ups are recommended to apply a resistance band when working out. It lowers the difficulty to the point where it is possible to perform the movement. By practicing this a lot, you will eventually be able to do it without a resistance band. It is a training method I used a lot in the past, which let me achieve hard skills such as the full-planche.
On the other side, you can also make exercises much harder with a resistance band. For example, you are a pro at push-ups or dips. You can increase the difficulty by simply adding a resistance band. The stronger the resistance band, the more challenging the exercises. It is a creative way to make exercises harder and spice it up a little bit,
Rubberbanditz Resistance Bands Review
After discussing all that, we have now arrived at review itself. As I said in the introduction, I got my first Rubberbanditz resistance band a few years ago. It was one of the best purchases I ever made. It helped me achieve my full-planche and front lever pull-up. Currently, I use the resistance band a lot due to my hefesto training. They are absolutely crucial in my workouts.
Once you stumble on the website of Rubberbanditz, there is a button where you can choose what kind of band is right for you. I eventually bought the purple one. Each color indicates a different strength.
The resistance bands from RubberBanditz have the best quality on the market. Made out of a 20 layered special latex material, which makes them literally indestructible. I had in my two years never the feeling that they would snap. And I think they never will, actually. Besides the indestructibility, the resistance bands really feel that they have high-quality. You don’t get a cheap feeling when you have them in your hands.
The reason you don’t want a cheap resistance band:
The only downside obviously of the Rubberbanditz resistance bands is, unfortunately, the high price. You easily pay more than 20 dollars for one resistance band. And especially if you live outside the US, the shipping costs are what makes it really expensive. However, this should not hold you back, or at least it didn’t hold me back. The resistance bands are really worth it in the end.
The resistance bands from Rubberbanditz are, in my opinion, one of the best on the market in comparison with the other resistance bands. The quality is just in one word perfect. The only downside I found is the price. On top of that are the shipping costs, which really makes it pricey. But in the end, you won’t regret it once you did your first ever muscle-up!
