The Perfect Fitness Ab Carver Pro makes using an Ab Roller much easier thanks to its innovative internal design. Using Ab Rollers is a great way to work out your core and abs, but they are notoriously hard to get into. The movement of an ab rollout seems easy enough, but only a few beginners can complete even a single repetition. Without the proper movement, it is also hard to see progression. This conundrum of the existing skill floor is what the Perfect Fitness Ab Carver Pro attempts to solve with an internal spring system in its wheel. 🔑Key Takeaways
- The Perfect Fitness Ab Carver Pro makes ab rollouts easier with an internal winding spring mechanism. The wheel gets stiffer the farther you move it along the floor, making the roller more stable the further into the movement you go.
- The quality seems good enough, and the handles are ergonomic and have a comfortable texture.
- The Ab Roller is meant for strict ab rollouts, where you need to place the wheel on the spot where you start your rollout, unmoved (with the internal spring completely unwound).
- Although the Perfect Fitness Ab Carver Pro makes ab rollouts much easier to master, it is almost completely unsuited for other exercises.
First Look at the Perfect Fitness Ab Carver Pro
I like what I see, just looking at the Perfect Fitness Ab Carver Pro. It has an interesting design with nice visuals. Spoilers, though, what’s inside is what’s really important here. But the colour combination of light grey with dark purple looks great. The thick wheel looks pretty stable, and the handles are ergonomic, with a knurled texture and a thumb rest.

The Perfect Fitness Ab Carver Pro comes disassembled, with the handles separate from the wheel. You slide the handles in, each with a Left and Right designation, before use. You also get functional knee pads, which are conveniently attached with a strap.
The only thing I don’t like about the way the Ab Roller looks is the stickers around the rim of the wheel. These stickers look a bit tacky to me, and I’ll probably pry them off before use.

The innovative part is inside, with a spring system that winds up the wheel as you do your rollout. This works in essence the same way as a toy car you can pull back on the floor and release; it will drive off under its spring tension. A similar spring-tension system is used inside the Perfect Fitness Ab Carver Pro to make the wheel stiffer and harder to roll during your movement.
The idea is that the further out you are in your ab rollout, the stiffer the wheel and thus the more stable the platform. At some point, you’ll have reached the end of the spring, where the wheel locks up almost completely, and you are left with what is essentially a less stable parralette resting on one leg. This should make the ab rollout a lot easier, since you’ll be fighting the wheel’s instability less at the points where your abs need to work harder.

In addition to this spring aid, the wheel is also 16.5cm wide, which is already a very generous surface area for doing ab rollouts. The handles angle downward, which primes your shoulders into a less strained position for the rollout movement.
All of these features will impact usability and even determine specifically what you can use the Perfect Fitness Ab Carver Pro for.
Testing the Perfect Fitness Ab Carver Pro
While exercising with the Perfect Fitness Ab Carver Pro, the limitations of this Ab Roller became apparent immediately. There is an important point about these limitations, and they all stem from the product’s internal design and intended use.
You need to start your ab rollout with the wheel in a specific position, the internal spring completely unwound, and no tension at all. The best way to do this is to first move your body into the exact position you need to start the ab rollout, then place the wheel on the floor in front of you, again in the exact spot where you will start the rollout. So, do not move the wheel back and forth on the floor into the right position; place it there.

You can feel it as well, since the wheel won’t spin any further when it is completely unwound. From there, you have a range of about 1.5 meters, during which the internal spring winds up until it becomes too stiff for the wheel to keep rolling.
This means you have an ab rollout of 1.5 meters or less before the roller becomes useless (literally stuck). For most people, this is enough, and I didn’t have any problems doing a full ab rollout. If you are taller, though, say above 2 meters (above 6’ 7”), you might run out of spring.
Once you get near the end, keep your hands on the handles at all times. If you let go of the Perfect Fitness Ab Carver Pro while the spring is wound, it will instantly unwind and spin the handles really fast. The ab roller can even jump up when the tension is released. It’s not very violent and probably can’t hurt you, but do be mindful that this can happen.

The need to hold onto the handles makes the Perfect Fitness Ab Carver Pro ill-suited for any exercise other than ab rollouts. Exercises where you rest your feet on the handles suffer most, as the stiffening of the wheel’s rotation actually works against you instead of helping you. Of course, it’s also very easy to lose grip on the handles if you’re just resting your feet on them, causing the spring to unwind, the wheel to spin, or the handles to spin.

That leads me to conclude that the Perfect Fitness Ab Carver Pro is a dedicated ab rollout progression aid that helps you adopt and complete the proper ab rollout technique faster.
Pricing of the Perfect Fitness Ab Carver Pro
The Perfect Fitness Ab Carver Pro costs about 40 euros. It is available on the Perfect Fitness Amazon Store, meaning that pricing can and will fluctuate depending on location, time, deals, and so on.
Conclusions About the Perfect Fitness Ab Carver Pro
The Perfect Fitness Ab Carver Pro works well, and it has some quality to it for a reasonable price. The spring system does a good job of making the ab rollout technique easier to achieve. It’s a bit finicky with the wheel suddenly unwinding the moment you release floor pressure, but once you get the hang of it, this thing just works.
That said, it only works for strict rollouts, and this product loses most, if not all, of its utility when you attempt other exercises. A minor issue is that the range of motion could be a bit longer, so taller people can also use it comfortably.
How long will the spring system inside the wheel last? No clue. Most likely, if you’re serious about mastering the ab rollout, then you’ll never find out, either. This ab roller is a training aid that helps you master the technique until you no longer need it. After that, you’ll use a regular Ab Roller for your ab rollout exercises.
So, for a fairly priced product that lets you master ab rollouts much more easily, this is a good deal. If you’d like to add your own Perfect Fitness Ab Carver Pro to your Calisthenics Equipment, click below.

Does the Perfect Fitness Ab Carver Pro work?
Yes, the Perfect Fitness Ab Carver Pro works and helps you master strict ab rollouts. The internal spring system winds up while you’re doing the rollout, making the exercise easier to do. The same spring system makes the Perfect Fitness Ab Carver Pro unsuited for any other exercise except ab rollouts.
What’s the difference between the ab carver and ab carver pro?
The Perfect Fitness Ab Carver is a regular Ab Roller, while the Ab Carver Pro has an internal spring system that winds up as you do the exercise. This makes the exercise easier as the wheel becomes stiffer the farther you push it over the floor.
