The Nayoya Gymnastic Rings receive much praise on the internet from well-known reviewers. Being plastic rings, they are lightweight and relatively cheap and boast an impressive maximum weight capacity. We can see the allure here, so we were interested in getting our own set of Nayoya Gymnastic Rings to review. Nayoya doesn’t have a website, and you’re relegated to Amazon to acquire them. We did just that, and after paying almost half of the ring’s worth in shipping and taxes, we finally got our hands on these plastic Gymnastic Rings.

About Nayoya
We couldn’t find much about the company behind Nayoya. They offer their products on Amazon, and they maintain an Instagram account as well. The only website they had is now defunct. They also receive mixed reviews on TrustPilot. The brand logo and name sound like they come from Japan; however, it doesn’t mean anything in Japanese. This is almost definitely a Chinese product using the “Made in Japan” vibe for its marketing.
First Look at the Nayoya Gymnastic Rings
The rings are obviously plastic and strikingly yellow. Whether you like this color comes down to personal preference. They do stand out among our other Gymnastic Rings. The straps are thinner than we’re used to and are unmarked.

Each strap has a Nayoya label sewn on with crude lettering and stitching. The buckles seem robust but have no coating.

Basics of the Nayoya Gymnastic Rings
- Outer diameter: ca. 24cm
- Inner diameter: ca. 18cm
- Grip size: 28mm Olympic
- Strap size: ca. 28mm
- Strap length: 4.5m (15ft)
- Maximum Capacity: 1000kg (2200lbs)p
The surface of the rings is knurled. The texture feels coarser than you might think if you go by the pictures. Plastic rings have the disadvantage of getting slippery very easily. The only way to fix this is by having a coarse surface texture. However, this makes the rings feel quite harsh on the hands when just gripping them. The 28mm Olympic standard is fine for all exercises.

For Calisthenics, I prefer the 32mm CrossFit standard since it gives you more surface area. This will be a point of contention during the exercise, unique to plastic rings.

Having no markings on the straps makes hanging them equally a hassle. The thinner straps also tend to jumble more easily than thicker straps. They seem good quality, and the buckle is also well-made and easy to use.
Exercising with the Nayoya Gymnastic Rings
The Nayoya Gymnastic Rings are suitable for all exercises and perform well. They get slippery when used, but not so much that you need chalk. The coarse texturing makes holding on possible even when your hands get sweaty.

However, that same texture makes them uncomfortable to touch and abrasive. With plastic rings, there simply is no middle ground. Either you have a smoother finish, and they get slippery, or a coarse finish, but they won’t feel nice to hold.
A thicker ring with more surface area could have made for a more comfortable grip. The thinner 28mm rings dig into the flesh of your hands more than the 32mm CrossFit rings. A thicker ring might have made for a more comfortable grip by distributing that knurling over a larger surface area.
If you don’t mind the surface, then the Nayoya Gymnastic Rings work fine for all exercises. I still find that wooden Gymnastic Rings are the superior choice.
Nayoya Gymnastic Rings Pricing
The Nayoya Gymnastic Rings are affordable; however, shipping and taxes can almost double the price you pay for them. This makes estimating your final price difficult for us. It depends on where you live and what kind of tax treaty your country has with (most likely) China. Instead of giving you a definitive answer, we’ll give you the price breakdown of what we paid for our Nayoya Gymnastic Rings shipped to the Netherlands:
Item | Price |
---|---|
Nayoya Gymnastic Rings | $34.97 |
Shipping & Handling | $15.01 |
Taxes | $10.49 |
Total | $60.47 |
The total price included $25.50 in shipping and taxes, nearly three-quarters of the rings’ cost.
Conclusions About the Nayoya Gymnastic Rings
Before and after our Nayoya rings review, we read many articles from reputable sources that speak extremely well of them. We can’t tell where this praise is coming from. The Nayoya rings are simple rings that offer no advantage or other admirable trait compared to regular Gymnastic Rings.
Don’t get me wrong. They get the job done just like any other set of rings would. You can do all your exercises, and if you don’t mind the knurling digging into your skin, these might be the perfect entry rings for you.
Wooden Gymnastic Rings, though, have the advantage of being made of wood. It is the superior material choice for Gymnastic Rings. Including the tax and shipping cost, nearly doubling the price of these rings (granted, depending on your location), you’re already almost in high-quality wooden Gymnastic Rings territory.
I recommend looking at a set of decent wooden Gymnastic Rings first, which you can do in my best Gymnastic Rings review.
