MARMATI Gymnastic Rings might be exactly what you need if you’re looking for a minimalist Gymnastic Rings setup but are sustainably minded. MARMATI is a Slovak company that is known for its sustainable production methods. Their products are made from recycled materials or from wood sourced from forests certified to the highest EU reforestation standards. In other words, MARMATI Gymnastic Rings are sustainable, and all production takes place in Europe. Recycled materials do not mean they skimp on quality, however. Time to take a look at the MARMATI Gymnastic Rings, straps and ceiling hooks.

MARMATI Sustainable Production Methods
MARMATI makes all of its Calisthenics Equipment with sustainability in mind. They actively develop strategies to make their products as environmentally low-impact as possible while also delivering top-shelf quality. Here are some of the ways MARMATI ensures a sustainable, environmentally friendly product:
- The MARMATI Weightless Rings are made of recycled aluminium, not increasing the amount of metals in the environment and actively giving discarded metal a new purpose.
- The MARMATI Gymnastic Rings are made from FSC-sourced wood, which ensures there is at least one new tree grown to adulthood for each tree felled.
- The MARMATI Straps are made from 97% recycled PET bottles, helping remove plastic waste from the environment and giving it a new, longer-lasting, and durable purpose.
First Look at the MARMATI Gymnastic Rings
We have all the MARMATI Gymnastic Rings to review, including the Weightless Rings, the 32mm and the 28mm MARMATI Gymnastic Rings, and the MARMATI Twyst rings, which have both 28mm and 32mm halves.

I like the finish on all their wooden Gymnastic Rings, and as a Calisthenics practitioner, I prefer the 32mm CrossFit standard. However, if you can’t choose, there is always the Twyst version, which has both the 32mm and the 28mm Olympic standard.
From our previous MARMATI Weightless Rings Review, we can already conclude that we’re not fans of this type of oddly shaped rings. The shape is supposed to help with a false grip. The drawbacks outweigh the benefits, and you get most of the same effect using the thicker 32mm regular rings.
The regular rings get the MARMATI name and logo etched into each ring. However, you can also customise the etching with your own logo or text. In our case, we chose the Calisthenics Worldwide logo.
We also have all their straps to review, and from a previous look at these straps, we already know we’ll love them. They are the best straps for Gymnastic Rings despite being made of literally garbage PET bottles. Since that review, MARMATI has introduced additional strap types and upgraded its existing straps. This even includes competition straps.

The straps are coloured by type, but you can choose alternative colours when you buy them. That said, I really like the colour schemes on them. They look modern, high-quality, but at the same time don’t stand out too much.
With the competition straps, you also get a door anchor, which is a thoughtful addition (though I don’t see how it fits in a competition setting).
Finally, MARMATI has further advanced its sustainability efforts by introducing “leftover straps”. These straps are cut-offs that result from the production of the regular straps. They can’t be used to make a full new strap, but throwing them away as waste would be a pity and not very environmentally friendly. Now, these are up for sale, and you can use them for a variety of warm-up exercises, such as stretches. You can also use them to tie around a tree or other bar and turn your gymnastic rings into suspension trainers.
MARMATI Weightless Rings
The MARMATI Weightless Rings are made of recycled aluminium. They feel very lightweight for being metal with a satin finish. They look very nice, but we didn’t really like them when we reviewed them earlier. The design of these rings is peculiar, with a triangular form and a bump that is supposed to help you with your false grip. However, the design runs into several problems.

You can only use the narrow part at the bottom of the “triangle”, where the bump is. The other sides are too thin and oddly shaped to be used as rings. That means you either use the false grip edge or you don’t use these rings at all.

The top part has another flattened surface where the straps connect. The design here tends to “wobble” when you do exercises like rows and pull-ups. Rings always have some instability to them, but this is more of an annoying tremble.
The material choice is also not ideal. The aluminium gets very slippery during exercises, and you need to apply a liberal amount of chalk.
MARMATI Ceiling Hooks
MARMATI has two types of ceiling hooks. The Master Ring Mount is a ceiling bar with a sleek design, consisting of a rectangular beam with slots for your straps. The outer slots are used for your regular straps, and the centre slot can be used for an additional strap or your Resistance Bands. The bar certainly is a very stylish solution. The only drawback is that you’re limited to the exact width between the slots for hanging your straps.

A more minimal but still very stylish alternative is their ceiling hooks. These also look great, and you can choose the width yourself. These are made of steel and are likely our favourite ceiling hooks on the market. Another advantage is that these hooks are just one piece, so they don’t make any sound when you use them.
MARMATI Gymnastic Rings Twyst
The MARMATI Twyst Gymnastic Rings are their most versatile, wooden Gymnastic Rings. I’ve tested mine with their standard gymnastic straps, which are fantastic. The straps are sleek, high-quality and have a silken feel. Each strap is clearly numbered, making levelling both sides easy. Even the MARMATI logo on them looks great. It all has a very clean look, including the attention to detail, like the extra band to roll up the slack.

The rings are great as well. You get both the 28mm and 32mm halves. As a Calisthenics practitioner, I almost always use the 32mm side, and I have no complaints. The whole setup is very clean, quiet and easy to adjust.

I could do my rows, levers, and muscle-ups with ease. When the time came, adjusting the rings up or down was quick and easy, thanks to the silken-smooth surface of the straps and their markings.

I love doing exercises on this MARMATI Gymnastic Rings setup. The Twyst rings give you both options, and you never notice that the other side is a different diameter.
MARMATI Airtime Gymnastic Rings & Competition Straps
The Airtimes are their classic 28mm wooden MARMATI Gymnastic Rings. Since this is the classic Olympic standard, I have them paired with the MARMATI competition-grade straps and suspended from the Master Ring Mount.

The competition-grade straps feature many loops around the strap and additional carabiner hooks. This gives you a quicker way to make height adjustments by tying two loops together with a carabiner. The carabiners are rounded and feel very heavy-duty. All you need to do is remember which heights you prefer for each exercise.

The competition straps were made in cooperation with The Rings Method and are featured in their world-famous Cirque du Soleil acts. If you purchase these straps, you also get free access to The Rings Method app.

These straps don’t have the sliding and clicking system of the other straps. But the smaller loops and many numbered markings do allow for perfectly level rings, which is important for the professional gymnastics of Cirque du Soleil repertoire.
MARMATI Raw Bands
The MARMATI Raw Bands are their Resistance Bands. Like all their products, the bands look very sleek. I’ve tried them with the Master Ring Mount to do my dips and pull-ups. Since my ceiling isn’t very high, I had to keep my legs bent to make full use of the bands. The top of the bands also gets in the way of your face when you come up for a pull-up. For my dips, I prefer looping them through the gymnastic rings themselves. But you can also just hang onto the bands, for example, to learn levers or the Maltese.

MARMATI Door Anchor
The door anchor works as expected and allows you to do some exercises to the side. If you have a complete MARMATI setup with the Master Ring Mount or the ceiling hooks, there is really no need for the door anchor. However, if you’re travelling, this can be a quick and easy fix to at least get some exercise in. Once funny features, is that the back of the MARMATI Door Anchor reads “Don’t Open, Workout in Progress”, which is a funny reminder not to open the door at that time.

Conclusions About the MARMATI Gymnastic Rings
Overall, MARMATI makes excellent, high-quality, and sleek-looking Callisthenics Equipment. We weren’t fans of the Weightless Rings, but we weren’t fans of the Infinity Rings for the same reason. The classic wooden Gymnastic Rings do 80% of the work for your false grip, while not compromising overall versatility. The 32mm CrossFit standard comes very close to the “bump” on the Weightless Rings, anyway.
The wooden rings are great, though. They have the perfect texture and take up your sweat. You have the option between 28mm and 32mm, but the Twyst rings give you both options without compromise. At least I didn’t notice that the other half of each ring was of a different diameter.
We can’t ignore the MARMATI straps. These are, hands-down, the best straps on the market. They are our go-to choice when testing gymnastic rings that don’t come with straps.
I prefer the slide-and-click system straps. These are the fastest to adjust, with the fewest moving parts. With the competition straps, you have more parts to keep track of, and adjusting is technically slower. However, you can level both sides more quickly and precisely with the competition straps. I like all of them, and you’ll get a high-quality product, but I still prefer the standard, clean-looking straps.

Hanging the straps looks nicest on the Master Ring Mount, but this is again an extra luxury you don’t need. I didn’t really like using the Resistance Bands with the mount, either way. The almost-as-stylish-looking Ceiling Hooks work well and are as quiet as a mouse in use.
Tying it all together, we recommend the MARMATI Twyst Gymnastic Rings with the standard MARMATI Straps and the Ceiling Hooks. This gives you a complete, high-end, sleek MARMATI Gymnastic Rings setup that will serve you for years.
