Assembly of the King of Weighted Adjustable Dip Station 

The Dip Station arrives disassembled, and this is no lightweight at all. Assembly is easy, and you can follow the supplied pictorial manual. However, all the parts are heavy-duty and high-gauge. Almost all components are “doubled up” for redundancy, resulting in a very durable station capable of handling heavy loads. So, although assembly is straightforward, there are quite a few steps with different nuts and bolts to go through. 

The only thing you need to be really mindful of is how you attach the dip bars to a rack or stand. The dip bars will fit any rack with legs of 60mm to 80mm thick. The dip bar itself mounts on a 60mm leg. You get a set of attachment plates that serve as shims between the dip bar sockets and the rack legs, up to a maximum of 80mm.

That should give you a little bit of wiggle room (quite literally), but we advise getting a King of Weighted rack to mount the dip bars onto to ensure compatibility. 

First Look at the King of Weighted Adjustable Dip Station

This Dip Station oozes heavy-duty industry. Everything is thick, oversized and made to last. Even the rubber caps on the feet are bulky. The whole thing is finished with a black, powder-coated steel surface to complete the aesthetic. The silver bolts that go through the legs just accentuate the heavy-duty nature of the King Of Weighted Adjustable Dip Station.

It takes up a little over 1 m² (104 cm²) of floor space. There is a metal plaque with the King of Weighted logo riveted on top of one of the feet. The height of the dip bars is adjustable from 90 cm to 150 cm. The holes for the bolts are numbered, making levelling easy, and you can remember which height setting you liked. 

Adjusting the height requires loosening the wingnuts (8 in total, 4 on each side) and removing the safety pins on both sides. The dip bar can then slide up and down. I find the easiest way is to undo everything except one safety pin, hold the dip bar in the middle and then remove the last pin (while holding on to it). Then make my adjustment and reinsert that pin. After that, insert the second pin and fasten all the wingnuts. 

A small cutout in the dip bar assembly allows you to view the number on the hole for the safety pin, a neat little feature. The King of Weighted logo is also cut from the diagonal struts on the Dip Bar.

Width adjustment is done by pulling and twisting a captive pin, which has knurled sides and a crisp King of Weighted logo laser-etched onto it. You can choose from 12 different width settings, ranging from 48 to 65 centimetres. The grips are 50mm, which is nice and thick and perfect for push exercises like weighted dips.

Exercising on the King of Weighted Adjustable Dip Station

While doing our exercises, we noticed a few Quality-of-Life things. First, adjusting the width is very easy. The captive bolt features an oversized, knurled head, making it easy to operate. The dip bar handles only extend one way, and the holes for the captive bolt are numbered. 

The placement of the captive bolt, though, can get a little claustrophobic. It’s placed on top, and your forehead moves towards it when doing deep dips. We would have preferred the bolt to be on the back to address this potential issue. We never actually hit the bolt, though, and it is no dealbreaker for us. Adjusting the height is a bit more involved, and we wouldn’t do it that often. The option is there, though.

As for weights, there is no feasible way you will exceed the maximum capacity of the King Of Weighted Adjustable Dip Station. The dip bars have a maximum capacity of 500kg, and the rack has a maximum capacity of 450kg. To put this into perspective, the current world record deadlift is just barely above 500kg. That’s a deadlift, not a dip. So even with the lower number, you are already well beyond human capabilities.

The King of Weighted Adjustable Dip Station is designed for heavy dipping. However, the dip bars are attached to only one vertical post. That automatically calls its stability into question. Might there be some wobbling, especially when a lot of weight is dangling underneath?

We exercised on it ourselves, but we also invited Dutch professional Streetlifting athlete Jurvin Valdez to come and test the King Of Weighted Adjustable Dip Station with us.

Jurvin set a new personal record of 135kg in our very own studio on the King Of Weighted Adjustable Dip Station, which is 1.5kg more than his previous successful competition attempt of 133.5kg. He found the dip bar to be very stable and didn’t notice any wobble, despite the immense physical exertion. 

That said, we have seen this dip bar attached to racks with two attachment points. That makes them even more stable. The problem with those racks is their price, which can quickly go into the thousands. The single-post dip stand, including the dip bars, “only” costs around 1,000 euros. Comparatively, this is very cost-effective. Considering the quality and heavy-duty durability, you’re getting an upper-middle-market product designed to last and handle any abuse you throw at it.

Conclusions About the King Of Weighted Adjustable Dip Station

This is the best standalone dip station we’ve used so far. The King of Weighted Adjustable Dip Station is high enough to dip without bending the knees. Weights from a dip belt can hang freely beneath you, without the risk of hitting the floor even during deep dips. You get a sense of spaciousness for your body and around your legs. The single-post dip stand starts to make sense here. The less stuff there is around you, the freer you feel to do your dips the way you like. 

The only tiny nitpick we have here is the captive bolt, which we’d like to see placed on the back of the bar rather than on top. That said, the bolt makes it very easy and convenient to adjust the width, and the numbered holes let it go in. The grip itself is great, with its texture and 50mm thickness, which really helps with wrist relief. 

This, along with the pricing of the King of Weighted Adjustable Dip Station, leaves it squarely in the higher market segment. We recommend this Dip Station to people who are looking specifically for a higher-end product and the higher quality, durability and status expectations that come with it.
