The Infinity Rings are specialized Gymnastic Rings for doing and learning the Muscle-Up. Specifically, they help with the false grip and allow an easier transition between the exercise’s pull-up and dip phases. The idea of these rings started with a popular crowdfunding action, which we also supported. After that, we came into contact with the inventor of these rings. He sent us a promising prototype; now we have the real thing. It’s high time for an in-depth Infinity Rings review.

About Infinity Rings and Crowdfunding
The Infinity Rings started as a concept design successfully crowdfunded on Kickstarter. The design received enough attention and investment to allow for its further development into a real product, including our support for its innovative idea. The founder of 333 Design sent us a prototype, which we liked because it promised to be a great training aid for the Muscle-Up. The design is now completed and available for purchase. We got our hands on the final version of rings which differed only slightly from the prototype.

First Look at the Infinity Rings
The Infinity Rings are made of a strong polymer that allows for the specific shape that makes these rings special. The main features that set these special rings apart from other Gymnastic Rings are a thick ridge that supports your wrists with the false grip and a curve that runs laterally along the whole ring, giving the rings a cup shape. These two features help perform the Ring Muscle-Up, giving your wrists extra support for the false grip and allowing your forearms to pass along the rings more easily through this hollow area.

The Infinity Rings came without other apparel, including straps. We hung them using our own straps from Marmati.
Basics of the Infinity Rings
- Outer diameter: ca. 24cm
- Inner diameter: ca. 18cm
- Grip size: 28mm (1.1″) Non-Standard
- Strap size: N/A
- Strap length: N/A
The rings are entirely non-standard, with varying thicknesses and gauges. The rings were designed to be ergonomic and allow the body to make natural movements while doing Muscle-Ups. They tend to stabilize with the thicker part facing down, which is the way the rings will best cooperate with your movements. You can also use the other parts of the rings, which will function like normal Gymnastic Rings.
The plastic finish has some texture but still feels pretty smooth. I’m not a fan of plastic Gymnastic Rings since they tend to get slippery and never have the grip feel of wooden Gymnastic Rings. However, I understand the material choice for this innovative design. Making this shape with wood would be pretty tricky for a company new to woodworking.
Exercising with the Infinity Rings
I’ll focus on the false grip for my exercises with the Infinity Rings. The extra ledge fits in the palm of your hand and creates a space for your thumb and wrist to rest. This reduces fatigue while doing Muscle-Ups, and I feel they are slightly easier with these rings than with regular Gymnastic Rings. The curve also allows for unrestricted movement for the dip.

The Infinity Rings work nicely for anything that uses the false grip and anything above the rings. Push-ups, dips, rows, pelicans, and other side exercises also work nicely with these rings. The thicker ledge offers better support for all these exercises where you push off the rings.

Regular wooden Gymnastic Rings are a better option for all other exercises, and the 32mm CrossFit Standard rings get very close to what these specialized rings do. Still, the rings with their ledges do make push exercises easier.

Conclusions About the Infinity Rings
The design is innovative, and the Infinity Rings make push exercises easier. However, we’re not fans of the end product, and I think there are other options you should explore first. My first qualm is with the plastic body. This quickly gets slippery during the exercise and doesn’t have a great texture to begin with. The feel and quality of wood simply can’t be beaten there.
The extra ledge is a nice feature, making learning the false grip easier. The ledge is also great for exercises like dips, rows and pelicans. However, regular Gymnastic Rings are more versatile, and you have some variety in the classic, round shape, too. You can get 80% of what Infinity Rings can do for false grip exercises with a thick 32mm Gymnastic Ring. The standard rings are far better suited for all other exercises.
Added is that the rings come without straps, and the price is steep for just the rings. We recommend getting a set of regular Gymnastic Rings first. If you want your set of Infinity Rings (to learn the false grip), use our link for the best price.
