1. The 5 GORNATION Pull-Up Bars Overview
We’ve bought 5 GORNATION Pull-Up Bars spanning the full range of Pull-Up Bar types. There is a Free Standing Pull-Up Bar, which you have to put up on the floor, a multi-function Pull-Up Bar that can be mounted to the ceiling or the wall, and we have 2 Door Pull-Up Bars. Together, GORNATION Pull-Up Bars give you all the options for a fully stocked Calisthenics home gym in any situation.
All the GORNATION Pull-Up Bars have a very similar style and look. They consist of black powder-coated steel components that fit neatly together. The grips are the same, with a 32mm girth and the same feel, except for the extended Doorway Pull-Up, which has a foam grip cover. The pricing is also very similar for most of them: around 50 to 80 Euro, except for the large GORNATION Pull-Up Station, which costs 300 Euro or more.
The largest difference will be in the use case of these Pull-Up bars, depending on space constraints and whether you can (or want) to drill holes in your ceiling or wall.
1.1: GORNATION Pull-Up Station
The GORNATION Pull-Up Station offers a wide range of exercises. In addition to the pull-up bar, there is a push-up bar, a bench press station (if you have the right bar for it), and a squatting station. You can also get Dip Bar extensions, which turn the middle section into a complete Power Tower and an all-in-one home gym.
This means the GORNATION Pull-Up Station offers a wide variety of exercise options. In addition to Pull-Ups and Chin-Ups, you can do Muscle-Ups, Statics, Dips, Push-Ups, etc. The quality of the components is very high, and the station is very stable.

If you’re looking for maximum versatility in a single, high-quality package, we recommend the excellent GORNATION Pull-Up Station.
1.2.1: GORNATION Pull-Up Bar “Multi” (Wall)
The GORNATION Pull-Up Bar “Multi” is 96.40 cm (35½”) long (the same as the “Uni” version), allowing for all Pull-Up types, including Wide Pull-Ups. Chin-ups and basic core exercises are also possible. The bar does protrude close to the wall, so you may end up chafing the wall with certain exercises or when you’re kipping your body (which you shouldn’t).

The grip feels nice and comfortable, so the GORNATION Pull-Up Bar “Multi” is a solid choice for a pure Pull-Up Bar that doesn’t stand in the way when unused. Its wall fixture is probably the weakest link, offering a high maximum weight capacity for added weight.
The bar must be attached to studs and will not fit standard U.S. wall frames. A concrete wall will receive the GORNATION Wall Pull-Up Bar with no problems.
1.2.2: GORNATION Pull-Up Bar “Multi” (Ceiling)
Mounting the GORNATION Pull-Up Bar “Multi” on your ceiling solves the problem of any wall contact. This gives the bar more versatility, as you can now easily perform levers, Pull-ups, Chin-Ups, and core exercises. You could theoretically bump your head against the ceiling with an exercise like explosive Pull-Ups, but we didn’t experience this as a problem.

Of all the mounted options (including the “Uni” below), this one is our favorite. It is strong, doesn’t stand in the way and gives you maximum freedom of movement around and below the bar. The GORNATION Pull-Up Bar “Multi” in this configuration is number one on our Best Ceiling Pull-Up Bars list.
1.3: GORNATION Wall Pull-Up Bar “Uni”
The GORNATION Wall Pull-Up Bar “Uni” is meant to go above a door on the door header. This fixes any problem with space between you and the wall, as there is no wall now. You get the benefit of a strong Wall-Mounted Pull-Up Bar that isn’t in the way when not used. The door frame is still in the way, making lever exercises like Skin-the-Cat slightly harder but not impossible either with this Pull-Up Bar.

The fit and feel are the same as with the “Multi” version, which is also 96.40 cm (35½”) long. Since it’s mounted to the wall, you don’t have to worry about weight capacity. When placed on the header of a standard interior door, this bar will fit most standard U.S. wall frames, but we also prefer a concrete wall for this one.
1.4: GORNATION Hook-It Pull-Up Bar (Doorframe)
The GORNATION Hook-It Pull-Up Bar has a simple hook system that wedges the bar against a door header. Before you buy, ensure that your door header can accept the minimum length requirement. Your door also needs a protruding frame for the feet to latch behind.

You have sufficient bar length with the GORNATION Hook-It Pull-Up Bar for your standard Pull-Ups, Chin-Ups, and even their wide variations. You get two grip size options, the top bar 32mm and the lower bar 34mm, making for viable false grip practice. Lever exercises, some statics and core exercises are also possible with the GORNATION Hook-It Pull-Up Bar.
Your door header will typically be lower than your ceiling or the height of the GORNATION Pull-Up Station, so you might need to tuck in your legs a little during exercises like Pull-Ups.
1.5: GORNATION Extend-It Pull-Up Bar (Doorway)
Another economical way to turn your door passage into a workout place is the GORNATION Extend-It Pull-Up Bar. Place the Doorway Pull-Up Bar between the door posts and twist the ends to extend until friction keeps it up. This solution is much lighter and easier to store and handle than a Doorframe Pull-Up Bar.

You can place the bar at any height, giving you many options for an economical price. Place the GORNATION Extend-It Pull-Up Bar near the top of your door to do Pull-Ups and Chin-Ups. You can also do straight bar dips, muscle-ups, and static exercises by placing the Extend-It in the middle of the doorway. Finally, you can turn the Extend-It into a Push-Up Bar when you mount it low to the floor.
We’re very impressed by the variety of exercises you can do with one compact, cost-effective solution. You can easily store the GORNATION Extend-It Pull-Up Bar when not in use, or you can leave it resting up against the header, which won’t be in the way either.
The limitation is the width of the doorway. You can’t do wide exercises with this Pull-Up Bar. Another difference with the other GORNATION Pull-Up Bars is the foam grip, which feels nice but isn’t as durable as powder-coated steel grips.
In the past, this type of Pull-Up Bar was notoriously unreliable. The latest versions of Doorway Pull-Up Bars by high-end producers like GORNATION are more reliable than the Doorframe types and give you a higher weight capacity.
2. Weighted Calisthenics Using GORNATION Pull-Up Bars
All the GORNATION Pull-Up Bars are compatible with Weighted Calisthenics and have a high enough maximum weight capacity. Using a Weighted Vest, you can increase the difficulty of your exercises using any of these bars.

A Dip Belt is less ideal with a Pull-Up Bar, except for the GORNATION Pull-Up Station, which pairs nicely with it.
3. Additions To GORNATION Pull-Up Bars
Popular additions to a Pull-Up Bar are Resistance Bands and Gymnastic Rings. You can use Resistance Bands with any GORNATION Pull-Up Bar for warm-ups or assisted exercises like assisted Pull-Ups. However, Resistance Bands work best for assisted exercises when already stretched, so you must at least extend your legs. This may limit their use to the Ceiling-Mounted Multi Bar and the Pull-Up Station.
Gymnastic Rings can greatly improve the quality and effectiveness of your exercise, and a Pull-Up Bar is a great way to fasten them. They also add variety to any Pull-Up Bar, like Push-Ups, Statics and Muscle-Ups, even if the base Pull-Up Bar cannot offer those. You can add Gymnastic Rings to any GORNATION Pull-Up Bar, but we do not recommend them for a Wall-Mounted Multi Bar as you can only do side exercises like Ring Rows.

5. Conclusion For GORNATION Pull-Up Bars
GORNATION has a solution for anyone, but you must remember a few things when choosing. Do you have enough space for a large setup? Are your door headers within the bar requirements? Are your walls or ceiling of good enough quality (or does the stud placement correspond to the length of the bar)?
The quality of the GORNATION Pull-Up Bars is excellent and uniform. All these products have a similar grip feel, steel gauge, fit, and finish. Your choice comes down to what you can and want to accommodate in your home gym.
If you have the space and the money, the GORNATION Pull-Up Station is an excellent choice and the clear winner. It does everything the other Pull-Up Bars do, plus more, and most of the time, it does it better.
Winner Best GORNATION Pull-Up Bar
The GORNATION Multi Bar mounted into the Ceiling is your best option for a mounted solution. This gives you the strength of a mounted Pull-Up Bar while eliminating any problems with wall offset and opens up options for more exercise variety, like Statics and levers.
The GORNATION Extend-It Pull-Up Bar is an economical option that saves space. The only limitation is the width of your doorway, but other than that, it offers much more exercise variety than the Hook-It.
