Looking for a compact home gym to work all muscle groups? It’s possible. Over the years, we have used, tested and reviewed some of the best Calisthenics Equipment. A lot of it, though, can take up a lot of room. You also need a variety of equipment to do all your exercises. What if there is a solution to this problem? I’m talking about a compact home gym set that consists of only a handful of parts and fits in a medium-sized gym bag. We’re not making any concessions on exercise variety, either. Let’s find out about 4 easy compact exercise equipment sets for your own compact home gym.

🔑Key Takeways
- You can do all your Calisthenics exercises and work out all your muscle groups with just Gymnastic Rings and Parallettes. These two combined make for a great, compact home gym.
- GORNATION offers all the required equipment for a compact home gym at a reasonable price and high quality. You can save on shipping by ordering everything from one brand.
- Die Ringe is another great one-stop shop for all the compact exercise equipment you need for your Calisthenics, but they only offer Low Parallettes.
- If you want the best for each piece, you need to shop at different brands. The best combination would be MARMATI straps, MARMATI Ceiling Hooks, Gorletic Gymnastic Rings, and Gorletic Low Parallettes.
The Best Compact Home Gym Combination
To exercise all your muscle groups, you need to be able to do workouts like pull-ups, chin-ups, dips, push-ups and squats. Some of these don’t need any equipment at all, like squats (unless you go the Weighted Calisthenics route, later on). Typically, this means you need a Pull-Up Bar for your pull-ups and chin-ups. A Dip Bar is needed for your dips, Australian pull-ups, and rows, and you might also need Parallettes for push-ups. Let’s add a Suspension Trainer for some proper row exercises, actually.
The list is growing, and so is the amount of room required to store all this stuff. We’re not even talking about the growing budget required here.
Over the years, we found that all of this equipment can be replaced with just 2 things: Gymnastic Rings and Parallettes. With these two, you can do all your Calisthenics. In a nutshell, this means you need:
- Gymnastic Rings
- Straps for the rings (often included with the rings)
- Ceiling Hooks (alternatively, a Pull-Up Bar)
- Low or Medium Parallettes

With this setup, you have your own compact home gym that can do everything related to Calisthenics. You can do your pull-ups, chin-ups, dips, rows and even muscle-ups. But, you can also do push-ups and a lot of statics on the Parallettes. You can even go Weighted Calisthenics, if you like.
The only things you need to decide are whether you want to order everything from one brand (to save on shipping costs) and what type of Parallettes you want. For the Parallettes, you need to choose between Low Parallettes or Medium Parallettes. Medium Parallettes are much more versatile, but Low Parallettes are more stable for exercises like Handstands. An alternative to Low Parallettes are Mini Parallettes, also called Push-Up Bars.
We’ll go over 4 options for compact home gym sets that are high-quality and give you everything you need.
Option #1: GORNATION Compact Home Gym

The first option is to choose GORNATION, which has all the equipment you need for your compact home gym. GORNATION generally makes high-quality Calisthenics equipment, and the GORNATION Gymnastic Rings and GORNATION Parallettes are no exception. The only caveat is that their rings only come in the 28mm Olympic standard. Still, they are very nice rings with a good finish. The ceiling hooks have the classic gym design of two rings attached to a mount.

The straps for the GORNATION gymnastic rings are high-quality and numbered with clear markings for easy equalisation. They also offer all three Parallettes types: mini, low and medium. These are also excellent quality, very stable and dependable.
The advantage of getting your entire compact home gym from GORNATION is that you can have it shipped to you once, saving on shipping costs and the hassle of placing multiple orders. You also get a completely uniform, branded home gym from a reputable Calisthenics equipment brand.

| Total Including Rings & Straps: | €154.70 | €184.70 | €204.70 | |
Option #2: Die Ringe Compact Home Gym

Another one-stop shop for your own compact home gym is Die Ringe. Die Ringe (German for The Rings) is an ideal option because they specialise in Gymnastic Rings and exercising on them. However, they also sell Low Parallettes, which are very stable and suitable for off-the-floor exercises like handstands. Although they are small, they did win our Low Parallettes comparison for stability.

They have very nice Gymnastic Rings available in both 28mm Olympic and 32mm CrossFit Standard sizes. For Callisthenics, having 32mm rings has its advantages, since we do a lot of push exercises and sometimes use the false grip. The straps are also good quality and numbered for that quick adjustment and equalisation.
Die Ringe is another top-of-the-shelf brand, so you’ll be getting high-quality equipment. You get to save on shipping by getting everything from this one brand, and you get that branded look for your compact home gym. We also like their Ceiling Hooks slightly more than GORNATION’s.

Option #3: MARMATI + Gorletic

If you want the absolute best options for each part of your compact home gym, you can shop from different brands. A combination of MARMATI and Gorletic means you get the best possible equipment.
The MARMATI Ceiling Hooks are our favourite as well, thanks to their sleek, modern design. The absolute best part of this setup is the straps. MARMATI straps are made of recycled PET bottles, but don’t let that fool you. The MARMATI straps are easily the best straps you can get for your Gymnastic Rings setup. They are easy to work with, feed easily, are clearly numbered and very strong.

Gorletic makes the best wooden Calisthenics equipment on the market. The Gorletic LowFit Parallettes are excellent, very stable and have great grip properties. The same goes for the excellent Gorletic Gymnastic Rings, which are available in both 28mm and 32mm diameters.

Option #4: MARMATI + Gravity Fitness

If you want Medium Parallettes, you can switch out Gorletic for Gravity Fitness and go with the Gravity Fitness Gymnastic Rings, coupled with the MARMATI Ceiling Hooks and their perfect straps. The Gravity Fitness Gymnastic Rings are still great rings available in 28mm and 32mm. You might make a small concession on the rings compared to the Gorletic Rings, but it’s not significant.
In exchange, you get the best Medium Parallettes on the market, the Gravity Fitness Hybrid Parallettes, to complete your compact home gym. This way, you get maximum versatility from your setup, and these Parallettes are still stable enough for many off-the-floor exercises, including handstands.

Alternative: Door Pull-Up Bars

One alternative to using Ceiling Hooks is a Door Pull-Up Bar. You need a way to hang your rings from a mounting point. If you don’t want to drill into your ceiling, a Pull-Up Bar works as well. Of course, this is another purchase, and it takes up more room. The most compact and cost-effective option here is to get a Door Pull-Up Bar. You can get either a Doorframe Pull-Up Bar or a Doorway Pull-Up Bar.
Conclusions About Compact Home Gym Setups
A compact home gym setup is easily within reach for most people. With just the ceiling hooks, gymnastic rings, and parallettes, you can have a whole lot of variety in exercise. This setup not only saves space, but it’s also budget-friendly. I am a big fan of using Gymnastic Rings anyway. Maybe that means I am biased towards this setup, but it has its merits. You don’t need much bulky equipment, and there are actually some advantages to using the rings.
The rings add a level of instability, which activates your muscles in different ways and even activates other, smaller muscles that remain unengaged when you do the same exercises on, for example, a Pull-Up Bar.
These combinations are just our favourites. You can set up your own combination of rings, straps, hooks and parallettes. We have plenty of reviews on all of them. When you are convinced that you need this compact home gym setup, don’t forget that you can use our discount code CWW10 on many of these products.
