8 Best Static Bars Review 2026: The Best Bars for Calisthenics Statics

Man leaning against two Static Bars and looking contemplatively at the camera amidst multiple other Static Bars.

The best Static Bar is the ideal, stable platform for a diverse range of Calisthenics exercises. Their height makes them very versatile for both Push and Pull techniques, and there are whole streams of Calisthenics that revolve entirely around the Static Bar. We have tested many Static Bars over the years and keep coming back to these 8 for our Statics. There are differences among these bars, such as material, size, and adjustability. Ultimately, they all serve the same purpose and must withstand the rigours of our workouts. That means we’re looking for stability, comfort and, of course, the correct size. For our Static Bars review, we’ve enlisted the help of professional Calisthenics athlete Valdas.

Key Takeaways

  • The best Static Bar is the FitnessKit modular bar. It is by far the most stable bar, and you can choose between a long and a short bar, as well as different thicknesses.
  • Runner-ups include the THENX bar, which offers decent stability and a long, thick top bar, and the Gravity Fitness bar, a budget-friendly alternative to the THENX.
  • Stability is the most critical factor for the best Static Bar.
  • The second most important factor is the grip thickness and texture. These will determine how comfortable it is to exercise on the bar.
  • All metal bars benefit from Grip Tape, which optimises grip and feel.
  • The bar must be at your waist height; an adjustable height helps ensure this.

Why a Static Bar?

A Static Bar is a horizontal Pull-Up Bar at waist height that is used for “Statics” in Calisthenics. You can do many pull and push exercises with the bar without having to “jump” into the correct position, like you would with a regular Pull-Up Bar. This allows you to use your energy more efficiently, targeting the muscles you intend to engage.

That makes the Static Bar a very versatile and practical piece of Calisthenics Home Equipment. Dips, Levers, Muscle-Ups, Australian Pull-Ups and Incline Push-Ups are but a few of the options you get with these bars.

The most crucial factor for a good Static Bar is its stability. These bars are used for many different exercises, including explosive ones. To stay safe, the bar needs to have as little wiggle and wobble as possible. The second most important factor is its grip. Both the grip’s girth and texture matter. Ideally, this type of bar has a thicker grip than a regular Pull-Up Bar, as it helps relieve wrist strain with Push exercises. We found that all the metal bars benefit from Grip Tape to optimise their grip.

#1 FitnessKit Static Bar Module

The clear winner of our test is the FitnessKit Static Bar Module. It is exceptionally stable, even when both Valdas and I did dynamic exercises on it. We tried both the very long 185cm bar and the short bar, and it didn’t make a difference in stability. The shorter bar has a 34mm grip, which is nice already. The long bar has a 43mm grip, which is perfect.

Two men performing Calisthenics together on the long version of the FitnessKit Static Bar, showing its strength and stability.

The long bar is ideal for wide exercises, such as the Maltese, and is our preferred choice. The grip texture is smooth, and Valdas preferred the powder-coated texture. However, with Grip Tape, the FitnessKit Static Bar becomes perfect. We advise adding tape to all metal bars, as they can get slippery during your workout.

The very long bar and exceptional stability, combined with Grip Tape, make the FitnessKit Static Bar module the best bar by far. Another advantage of the FitnessKit modular system is that it is a module, allowing you to add many other modules, which improves the stability of each added module. The only downside is the price.

#2 Caliathletics Static Bar

The Caliathletics bar is also very long and comes with a girthy grip. The powder-coated surface provides a slightly better grip, but it will still become slippery in use without Grip Tape or at least chalk. With Grip Tape, there is no difference in grip between the Caliathletics and the FitnessKit bars.

Where the difference lies is in stability. The Caliathletics rocks side to side much more when in use, and it isn’t suitable for very dynamic exercises. It is also relatively low, making some exercises difficult to perform. All the while, it costs the same as the FitnessKit, making the choice for the FitnessKit easy.

#3 Eric Flag Static Bar

The Eric Flag bar has a very nicely textured grip and is height-adjustable. The various settings make it ideal for users of all heights. However, that is where the good news stops. The top bar is in two halves, joined by two screw protruding from the top bar itself.  The bar is relatively short as well, and to add insult to injury, the Eric Flag bar isn’t very stable. We didn’t feel comfortable doing any exercise on this bar, and its performance for any off-the-ground exercises was very subpar.

#4 Gorletic Front Lever Bar

The Gorletic Front Lever Bar scores highest in looks and grip feel. The wooden bar has the best texture and has the perfect thickness. It’s also nice and long for all your wide exercises. I always like a nice, thick wooden grip for my morning exercise. However, the Gorletic bar has other problems that make it fall short of being a recommendation. It’s unstable, especially during dynamic exercises and off-the-ground workouts. They also added a second bar near the floor, which narrows the gap where you can do exercises like rollovers, skin-the-cat and even levers. It doesn’t help that the bar is quite low to begin with.

We already knew that these three bars were very similar, but for the setup of our review, it became even more apparent that they are nearly copies. They are made of the same materials; their finishes look and feel the same; the way the top bar is attached to the legs is the same; their lengths are the same; and even their thickness is practically the same. We believe these are all made in the same industrial region, where the factories use similar production processes.

The only slight outlier here is the THENX bar, which is slightly more stable than the BarMania Pro and Gornation Bars. However, it still cannot compete with FitnessKit in terms of stability.

#8 Gravity Fitness Static Bar

The Gravity Fitness Bar is very similar to the THENX bar. It has a nice powder-coated surface and is long enough to do all your exercises. It is also more stable than the THENX, BarMania and Gornation bars, though not as stable as the FitnessKit Bar. The Gravity Fitness Static Bar has two other advantages of its own. The first is that it is height-adjustable through a knob screw. You don’t need any tools to adjust the height, making it ideal for performing exercises at different heights during the same workout.

For our planches, we set the bar very low to the ground for added stability (in its lowest setting, it comes close to the FitnessKit), and for exercises performed below the bar, we set it higher.

The second advantage is that it is a lot more budget-friendly than the THENX Bar. This makes the Gravity Fitness Static Bar a competitor to the THENX bar. You get similar stability, can adjust the height, and pay a lot less. However, the bar on the Gravity Fitness is very thin, especially for push exercises. We still recommend spending the extra money on the THENX to get a thicker bar, since grip matters a lot.

That makes me come to a sad realisation about the Gravity Fitness bar. If they put a thicker bar on it, you could save a bunch of money for 80% of the performance of the FitnessKit bar. With just that change, the Gravity Fitness bar wouldn’t just be a competitor to THENX or Gornation; it would win in this line against all the rest, including FitnessKit.

Conclusions About the Best Static Bars

Choosing the best Static Bar came easily after testing out the FitnessKit and then the competition. The FitnessKit bar rules in the most important key areas: stability and grip. We only felt comfortable with all our exercises on the FitnessKit bar, and the other bars all had some issues with rocking and shaking. You get to choose between a long and a short bar, as well as the thickness you prefer. Add Grip Tape and you have the perfect bar.

As a runner-up, the THENX bar remains stable and has a distinct texture of its own. It’s also slightly higher, which will be particularly helpful for taller individuals. We can also recommend the Gravity Fitness Bar if you’re on a tight budget and need sufficient stability and length, plus easy height adjustability.
