Calisthenics

What is Calisthenics is a question we hear often. Calisthenics is a bodyweight exercise method with a long history stretching back to ancient times. We know Calisthenics was practised by both men and women in Ancient Greece, and similar exercise methods were used in Ancient Rome and Ancient India. Calisthenics means “beautiful strength” in Greek, encapsulating physical and mental strength, stamina and fortitude.

Calisthenics for beginners is easy to get into and has a low cost. There are many easy Calisthenics moves a beginner can start doing right away.

There are many benefits to Calisthenics, including improved strength, agility and stamina. But Calisthenics also improves cognitive focus and your self-esteem. It is easy to begin and doesn’t cost a lot. It gives fast results; you can expect improvements just a few weeks after starting.

The core mechanics behind Calisthenics are progressive overload and compound exercise with a high range of motion. Typical Calisthenics exercises are Pull-Ups, Push-ups, Squats, Dips, Planks and Levers. All these basic moves have easier and harder variations. In all cases, Calisthenics strives to perfect form over increased repetitions.
