Gravity Fitness Statics Bar Instructions for Assembly

Putting the Gravity Fitness Statics Bar is pretty straightforward, and I did it in about three minutes. You get all the tools and components required in the package sent by Gravity Fitness. These include:

  • 2x Foot Component
  • 2x Vertical Post Component
  • 2x Adjustable Vertical Posts
  • 1x Horizontal Top Bar
  • 2x Horizontal Top Bar Back Plate
  • 2x Adjustable bolt knob
  • 4x Connector Ties
  • 4x long bolt with washer and nut
  • 6x medium bolt with washer and nut
  • 4x short bolt with washer and nut
  • 2 spanners

Here is how you assemble the Gravity Fitness Statics Bar:

Step 1: Assemble the Feet

Align 1 Vertical Post Component with 1 Foot component so that the Vertical Post rests against the back of the Foot’s vertical protrusion. Apply 2x long with washers and nuts, and tighten with the spanner.

Repeat for the other side.

Step 2: Apply Connector Ties and Apply Rubber Feet Caps

Place 1 Connector Tie on each side of the assembled Foot and Vertical Post assembly, flush at the bottom where the Vertical Post sits against the Foot Component. Apply a Medium Bolt with a washer and nut through each hole, and fasten with a spanner.

Slide on the rubber feet caps and repeat the process for the other side.

Step 3: Insert the Adjustable Vertical Posts

Slide the Adjustable Vertical Post with the holes pointing outward into the Vertical Post. Insert an Adjustable Bolt Knob and hand tighten. Repeat for the other side.

Step 4: Assemble the Horizontal Top Bar

Place the Horizontal Top Bar and 1 Horizontal Top Bar Back Plate on either side of an Adjustable Vertical Post so that the two parts clamp the Adjustable Vertical Post. Apply 2 short bolts with washers and nuts and tighten with a spanner.

Repeat on the other side to complete the assembly of your Gravity Fitness Static Bar.

A First Look At The Gravity Fitness Static Bar

What strikes me first is its height and adjustability. At its highest setting, it reaches my sternum. It’s not quite Pull-Up Bar height, but this height works nicely for static bar exercises like the Muscle-Up

Another thing that I noticed right away, even while assembling it, is the feel of the components. The powder coating feels nice and smooth and has just the right texture. The Gravity Fitness Static Bar also looks good. The components are all high gauge, the finish is excellent, and there aren’t any bells or whistles. At first glance, the Gravity Fitness Static Bar looks stable but that remains to be tested (read below).

The only thing I’d like to have seen done better is the logo sticker. The logo itself looks good, but mine was applied crookedly.

Gravity Fitness Static Bar Dimensions & Adjustments

Here are the basic dimensions of the Gravity Fitness Static Bar:

  • Top Bar Length: 100cm
  • Height (Adjustable): 93cm – 133cm
  • Feet Width: 111cm
  • Feet Length: 117cm
  • Top Bar Diameter: 32mm
  • Weight: 15kg

You can adjust the top bar in increments of 5cm. Adjusting is easy with the knob bolt, which is captivating under spring tension. You don’t unscrew the bolt completely; only a few turns are enough. Then you pull the knob bolt out and hold it, make your adjustment, let go of the knob, and it will spring back into place. Tighten and done.

The website says the maximum height is 120cm, but my tests indicate 133cm, which is odd. I don’t know why they would lowball this number. The underreported height might be an intended safety aspect to leave enough of the adjustable bar inside the vertical posts. It would require you not to use the final few holes in length, but since it isn’t mentioned anywhere that the final holes are to be left unused, people will likely use the highest setting anyway.

Exercising With the Gravity Fitness Static Bar

When exercising on the Gravity Fitness Static Bar, I immediately thought of muscle-ups. Muscle-ups are a staple exercise for Static Bars, and they worked great in this case. The Gravity Fitness Static Bar shines brightest at chest height, with enough room above and below your whole torso to make a full rotation.

Aside from Muscle-Ups, Front Levers and Back Levers, the bar is high enough for Australian Pull-Ups. You set the bar lower so you can do Australian Pull-Ups with your knees bent and your feet on the floor for maximum stability.

Either way, the Static Bar is very stable, whether you’re doing muscle-ups, levers or Australian pull-ups. There is negligible lateral or front-to-back movement during these exercises. The Gravity Fitness Static Bar is arguably the most stable Static Bar we’ve used and is an excellent addition for your arm, shoulder and chest exercises.

Straight bar planches and leg raises are exercises that demand higher stability. In both cases, the Gravity Fitness Static Bar performed well. Adjusting the height quickly to the appropriate level for each exercise is all that’s needed.

Due to its bar length, wide-grip exercises like the Maltese aren’t possible on this Static bar. I did not try these exercises on the Gravity Fitness Static Bar.

We liked the feel of the top bar and its satin finish. It’s neither coarse nor smooth. I still like adding Grip Tape to my top bars, but that is my personal preference. The coating on the Gravity Fitness Static Bar is precisely right.

Gravity Fitness Static Bar Price

Depending on where you are, the Gravity Fitness Static Bar costs €99.95, £89.95, or $119.95. This price is exceptionally fair considering the quality, adjustability and stability you’re getting.

Conclusions About the Gravity Fitness Static Bar

I had a lot of good things to say about the Gravity Fitness Static Bar. Gravity Fitness has a history of making great Calisthenics Home Equipment that many people enjoy using. This Static Bar belongs in that category of high-end, quality products we came to expect from the company. Is everything perfect? No, but it comes close.

The Gravity Fitness Static Bar does everything you want from the Static Bar except for wide-grip exercises. You can do all your Muscle-Ups and Levers, advanced lever exercises, leg raises and rotations like Skin-the-Cat. It is the most stable Static Bar we’ve used, and this stability holds up at every height setting.

The fit and finish are excellent, and the bar feels pleasant even without grip tape or other additions. All the components and fittings are high-quality, and height adjustment is effortless. These qualities are combined in a 100-euro package, which is a terrific deal. I recommend the Gravity Fitness Static Bar.
