Want strong fingers? The CLEVO Wall Pull-Up Bar is the right tool for that. CLEVO is a German company that creates indoor exercise equipment for climbers. It’s known for making high-quality products that appeal to climbers of all ilks and has also drawn the attention of Calisthenics practitioners. We have previously reviewed the CLEVO Door Pull-Up Bar and Hangboard and have now bought the CLEVO Wall Pull-Up Bar with the large hangboard. After this review, you’ll know if this Pull-Up Bar suits you. I also have a discount code (CWW10) for you at the end.

Assembly of the CLEVO Wall Pull-Up Bar
The CLEVO Wall Pull-Up Bar needs some assembly as a Wall Pull-Up Bar. We’ll go through the process step by step.
The Pull-Up Bar Assembly
- Place the Front Panel against 1 Side Panel so that the ledge on the Front Panel falls flush inside the Side Panel (picture 1). Secure with the 2x M6 Hex Bolts and their washers and nuts applied, and tighten with a torque wrench and hex key. Repeat on the other side.
- Place the Back Panel on the back of the assembled Side Panels on the outside (picture 2). Secure with 8x M6 Hex Bolts and their washers and nuts, and tighten with a torque wrench and hex key.
- Apply the Top Bar between the Side Panels and secure with a M6 Captive Screw and the smaller Philips screw offset to the side to prevent rolling.
Hangboard Assembly
- Place the hangboard flush against the Front Panel, ensuring it is facing the right way up. The Top Bar should be underneath the CLEVO logo on the hangboard, with CLEVO reading right side up.
- Apply the M4 x 60 bolts into the top holes and the M4 x 35 into the bottom and middle holes of the hangboard. Apply the washers and nuts and fasten with a torx spanner and wrench.
- Optional: fasten the campus rungs on the outside of the Side Panels with the 3mm hex nuts.
Wall Mounting
Wall mounting will require at least two persons. One of you will be holding the CLEVO Wall Pull-Up Bar in place against the wall and needs to be physically strong enough to keep it there, while the other needs at least one hand free.
- Place the assembled CLEVO Wall Pull-Up Bar against the wall at the height and in your desired location. Use a spirit level to ensure a level positioning. Mark the hole locations with a marker and remove the CLEVO Wall Pull-Up Bar.
- Pre-Drill the 8 holes for the screws at the exact length of the plugs. You can mark the depth of the plug with a piece of tape on your drill bit.
- Insert the 8 plugs and place the CLEVO Wall Pull-Up Bar back against the wall.
- Fasten the self-tapping masonry screws until they are tightly fitting. Do not let go of the CLEVO Wall Pull-Up Bar until all 8 screws are in place.
CLEVO Wall Pull-Up Bar Dimensions and First Look
Here are the basic dimensions of a fully assembled CLEVO Wall Pull-Up Bar:
- Height: 61.5cm
- Width: 66.5 cm
- Depth (wall offset): 50cm – 55cm
- Weight: 20.9kg
- Weight Capacity: 100kg
- Top Bar Length: 65.3cm
- Top Bar Diameter: 40mm
With the CLEVO Wall Pull-Up Bar assembled and installed, I am very impressed with its first appearance. The black powdered steel and the light-colored wooden components look pleasing. All the bells and whistles attached, like the campus rungs and balls and the hangboard options, make it look even more appealing.
The wooden components look very crisp and nicely finished. The CLEVO logo is laser etched into the hangboard and cut out of the side panels, which looks fantastic. They’ve given the fit and finish a lot of attention. Even the screws that go into the wall get a little cap to hide them and make them look clean with the rest of the assembly.
Exercising with the CLEVO Wall Pull-Up Bar
The CLEVO Wall Pull-Up Bar is both a Pull-Up Bar and a hangboard. You use them for similar but different exercises, especially in preparation for real-world applications. I’ll go over each category separately.
Pull-Up Bar Exercises
This section will be shorter (literally and figuratively), with the top bar just over 65cm. The CLEVO Wall Pull-Up Bar allows for standard Pull-Ups and Chin-Ups and their narrow variations, but it is too short for wide-grip exercises.
Hangboard Exercises
The hangboard steals the show for the CLEVO Wall Pull-Up Bar—so much so that the product should be called the CLEVO Wall Hangboard (with Pull-Up Bar). The wall offset and the CLEVO’s width emphasize hang board exercises for climbers. This emphasis on climbing begs whether this product is for Calisthenics.
The hangboard has various slots for finger placement at different difficulty levels. The easier slots simulate small ledges and alcoves where you can fit most of your fingers’ length and curl them sufficiently. We had success performing pull-ups with these slots.
The hardest are slanted ledges, which provide much less surface area for your fingers and even encourage them to slip. We only had success hanging on to these but couldn’t pull ourselves up.
The hangboard activated muscles we weren’t used to activating, and we felt it. Climbing or Calisthenics is a matter of nuance instead of outright difference. Most climbers also perform Calisthenics to generate the required gross muscle mass to pull themselves up and have the stamina to repeat that during the climb. At the same time, climbing itself trains the smaller muscles that are left disengaged with normal Calisthenics.
A tool like a hangboard comes in very handy for the climber. It allows you to practice your Calisthenics to build up large motor skills with a lot of strength while working on grip strength and finger strength and activating those smaller muscles.
We have campus and ball rungs for our hangboard, but more options to customize your CLEVO Wall Pull-Up Bar are available.
Load Capacity
The maximum rated load capacity of 100kg makes the CLEVO Wall Pull-Up Bar a pure bodyweight exercise tool. It is suited for climbers who will likely not be weighing themselves down with much additional weight while making their ascent.
That said, we made a lot of explosive moves, which easily imparted 100kg of momentum, and I did weighted pull-ups. The CLEVO Wall Pull-Up Bar did not move at all and is almost certainly capable of more than 100kg of weight. However, you also have to consider the wall mount, the quality of your wall and how well of a job you did mounting it.
Gymnastic Rings
One good way to maximize the versatility of any Pull-Up Bar is by combining it with Gymnastic Rings. Gymnastic Rings allows you to readily adjust the height of where you’re exercising, while the Pull-Up Bar gives you the perfect mounting point for the straps.
I managed to do some Ring Muscle-Ups with my behind barely grazing the wall behind me. It does work, but it’s not ideal. With Dips, I also touched the wall, either with my back or my front turned towards it. Likewise, Push-Ups are not ideal as your head will likely bump into the wall.
It’s possible, but the limited wall offset makes the CLEVO Wall Pull-Up Bar less ideal for Gymnastic Rings.
Resistance Bands
Another great complement to Pull-Up Bars is Resistance Bands. Aside from your arm pull extensions, the Resistance Bands allow you to do assisted pull-ups, chin-ups and hangs using the hangboard. Climbers will also practice their unilateral hangs, like hanging by one arm. These unilateral hangs can also be practised using resistance bands initially and slowly dwindling them down until you are strong enough to hang by one hand unassisted.

Conclusions About the CLEVO Wall Pull-Up Bar
The CLEVO Wall Pull-Up Bar is a high-end product by a producer of high-end gear. You get excellent build quality, excellent materials and excellent fit and finish. The CLEVO Wall Pull-Up Bar simply looks the part. You know you’ve got a good product once installed with all its options and additions. That comes with a price tag which needs justifying (despite the high quality).
That justification will not come from only Calisthenics. You can do your basic Pull-Ups and Chin-Ups, but that’s about it. It doesn’t pair that well with Gymnastic Rings, either. Where the CLEVO Wall Pull-Up Bar shines, though, is during grip strength exercises. The hangboard is a specialized tool for climbers, so climbers who regularly do Calisthenics for their foundational work benefit the most from buying the CLEVO Wall Pull-Up Bar.
There are many options for enhancing your grip and finger strength with the base Pull-Up Bar and hangboard combination. You can customize your setup with additions. That is why I can confidently recommend the CLEVO Wall Pull-Up Bar for those people.
